Running Challenge

Ready, Set, Go!!! We are excited to introduce the community our first Running Challenge. Run or walk your way to a healthier you!  Challenge your friends, walk or run with family, or try to beat your personal best time during the month of October through December.

To Get started…

Pick your Race

Select and complete one: 5K (3.1 miles), 10K course (6.2 miles), Half Marathon (13.1 miles), or Full Marathon (26.2 miles). Please note, this is a self-paced training run to complete on your own time.


To register, please visit ActiveNetLink.  Registration begins Tuesday, September 1, and continues through fall. The $20.00 registration fee includes a Runner’s Swag Bag filled with:                                        

  • Healthy TC Free T-Shirt Registration Form
  • Marathon Bib
  • Runner's Log
  • Finisher Medal (Mailed after completion of challenge)
  • Warm-Up Charts
  • Virtual Race Picture Frame (Emailed after completion of challenge)
  • Temple City Sports Bottle

Running Challenge Swag

Runners Swag Bag Pick-up

Contactless drive-thru pick-up for the runner’s bags will be available every Thursday between 3-6 p.m. at the Live Oak Community Center 10144 Bogue St, Temple City CA 91780.

Tracking and Submitting Miles

Runners will be responsible for tracking their own miles using the provided Runner's Log and  submitting the log once they have completed their marathon. Results will be on the honor system. Submit your results two ways:

  1. Scan and email the Runner's Log to Jordi Ubaldo, Parks & Recreation Coordinator, at 
  2. Mail the Runner's Log to City of Temple City, Attn: J. Ubaldo - 2020 Virtual Marathon, 9701 Las Tunas Drive, Temple City, CA 91780.
  3. Medals will be mailed after participants have completed their running challenge.  

Deadline to submit is Friday, December 18, by 12 p.m.

Tips for Runners - BE SAFE!

Remember to keep social distancing while running on the streets and or trails adhering to L.A. County’s Safer at Home Order. Consider running during the morning hours when the weather is cooler. Always be aware of other people and traffic when running on the streets. Runners should be able to hear an audible warning while running.  If running in the evening, wear reflective gear to maintain your visibility.


Where can I run? 
Anywhere! You pick your favorite course, track, trail or even home treadmill. If the air quality is unhealthy we advise that you use your treadmill indoors. CLICK  HERE to view today's air quality forecast.  

Can I walk?
Absolutely! –  If you don’t have a running watch you can also track your progress on your smartphone. 

When do I need to complete my run?
Any time by or before Friday, December 18, 2020 at 12 p.m.

Can I run with my dog or stroller?
Sure, just make sure your dog is on a short leash and you are courteous to other community members, and abide by the local laws and codes.

Can I run at the beach, mountain trails, or outside of Temple City?
Of course, you can! Healthy TC encourages all runners to get up and get out no matter the location. 

Do I have to wear my runner’s bib?
We encourage runners to wear their bib to experience the marathon vibe. We would also love to see some of your pictures or videos from your run with your bib!  Tag us @connectwithTC and or #HealthyTC This is not mandatory.

What happens if I don’t complete the marathon I signed up for?
We encourage everyone to complete the full race they registered for. We will still award you a medal and recognize you for the miles you completed.
