The 2011 Temple City Bicycle Master Plan proposes a 27-mile network of bike routes and infrastructure in the community. To date, the City has received two Caltrans Bicycle Transportation Account (BTA) grants totaling $922,000 to implement 15 miles of bikeways in 2014. Staff is also coordinating with the County and adjacent municipalities to ensure bicycle network connections beyond City limits to key destinations like transit hubs and the regional Rio Hondo Bike Trail.
The plan includes:
A network of on-street and off-street bikeways
A plan for expanding existing regional bikeways and connecting gaps to neighboring communities
Recommendations for bike education and enforcement
Potential funding sources to support bike improvements
