From its modest beginnings 66 years ago with a handful of youngsters tossing camellia blossoms to the viewers along Las Tunas Drive, the festival now welcomes more than 5,000 children in its parade and attracts 20,000 visitors throughout the weekend.
         
     
Carole Rodenbucher will lead this year's festivities as the General Chairman of the 2010 Camellia Festival. FAMILY FUN has been selected from more than 100 entries as the theme of the 66th Camellia Festival.  Theme winner Kevin Vine will be a guest at the Kick-Off Breakfast and will ride in the Camellia Festival Parade on February 27, 2010.

Calling All First Graders!

A Royal Court of first graders will reign over the weekend's festivities. The Royal Court is selected during the Royalty Contest Play Day held at the Live Oak Park Community Center. The Royal Court will participate in the 2010 Camellia Festival Parade.
Applications for the Royalty Contest Play Day will be sent to all T.C.U.S.D. elementary schools. Applications will also be available at the Camellia Festival Office located in City Hall.

Eligibility: Entrants MUST attend the first grade and MUST RESIDE within the boundaries of the Temple City Unified School District or the City limits of Temple City. PRE-REGISTRATION is required. All registered children will receive a confirmation letter prior the the Royalty Contest Play Day.

The Play Day will be held at Live Oak Park Community Center, 10144 Bogue Street, Temple City on Saturday, January 9, 2010 from 9 am - 11:45 am

 
Youth Organizations

All local youth organizations are encouraged to pick up an application and enter a float or walking unit in the Camellia Parade. Informational workshops will assist organizations in designing and building of their float. Each participating organization will receive a $100 stipend.

Winning Float builders will receive cash awards.
Sweepstakes - $150     Best Use of Camellias - $50 
Theme Award - $50      Animation of Float - $50
