As a service oriented division of your local
government, the City Clerk’s Office
is responsible for the care
of official records and documents of the City such as agendas,
minutes, resolutions, ordinances, and for providing and
maintaining legal and historical records and information.
Council
Meetings
The Clerk's Office coordinates the preparation and
distribution of official
City Council agendas, legal and legislative documents, and
City Council minutes. Agendas and agenda reports are
available at City Hall and on-line at the city's website
www.templecity.us.
Forms and
Permit Applications
The Clerk's Office issues city permits for the
following:
Street Banner,
Bingo,
Christmas Tree Lot,
Film,
Firework Stands and
Pumpkin Lot.
Public Records
The City Clerk is the custodian of many public records
of the City, including ordinances, resolutions, minutes of the
City Council, agreements, election-related documents, campaign
disclosure filings, statements of economic interest, and many
others. If you would like to request a copy of these types of
public records, please complete a
Request for Public Records form.
Elections
As the Election Officer, it is the duty of the
City Clerk to conduct Municipal Elections in accordance with the
Temple City Municipal Code, the Elections Code, and the
Political Reform Act of 1974. General municipal elections are
held in March of the odd number years. The City Clerk is the
filing officer for Campaign Disclosure and conflict of interest
statements required by the Fair Political Practices Commission.
Municipal
Code
The City Clerk’s Office coordinates updating the Temple
City Municipal Code. The Municipal Code is a compilation of city
laws and regulations and is accessible at city hall and on-line.
Commission Recruitment
The City Clerk's Office coordinates the recruitment
process for the City's Planning Commission, the Parks and
Recreation Commission, Public Arts Commission, and the
Public Safety Commission. Vacancy notices are posted at
City Hall, online at the city's website and published in the
newspaper. Applications must be submitted by the established
deadline.
Other Duties
The City Clerk administers
oaths of office, attests and seals
official documents, receives claims and
lawsuits against the City.
