Housing

The Housing program provides Housing Rehabilitation assistance.  The purpose of the Housing Rehabilitation Program is to improve the living conditions of individual homeowners while at the same time upgrade the general housing stock of the City in order to prevent decay.

Eligible participants in the Housing Rehabilitation Program may receive up to $25,000 for home repairs.  The loans are set at a simple interest rate of 3%, with no payments due until sale or change of title.  Eligibility is base upon income and household size.

The City also offers a Handyworker Assistance grant program, which  is geared towards assisting low-to-moderate income households that are owner-occupied. Acceptable improvements could include the repair or replacement of obsolete or non-functioning heating, plumbing, electrical, or structural items in their residence. Applicants who qualify are eligible for a grant (does not need to be paid back) up to $10,000 to make these necessary improvements.
